Near the corner of Memorial and Me

Yesterday at the bank I realized the teller was a girl I'd gone to high school -no, scratch that- my entire K-12 French Imamersion experience with. I said an overly-zealous "hi!" when I realized who she was and it didn't seem to click for a moment until she looked at me and said "Alyson... is that you?!"

I always forget I don't look anything like my teenage self (thankfully!) but as she said it's always the eyes that give it away. Not that I'd want those to change, newp.

While I don't expect to actually hang out with her like we politely discussed it was nice to know she's doing okay and is still looking gorgeous; isn't it funny how just knowing someone else is doing well can make your day better?

Anyway, I also found out today that John Waters and his killer facial hair are coming to my hometown for the My City's Still Breathing art symposium in November! Can haz be excite?!

Apparently we won the bid to become the 2010 Cultural Capital of Canada so we'z be gettin' some mad dolla dolla billz (aka a cool $2 mil in funding) to put on a show.

Among others Mark Kingwell, Larry Beasley, and Leah Decter will be presenting/presenting and John K. Sampson of one of my fav Wpg-based bands -and singers of one of my favorite songs, One Great City! (I Hate Winnipeg)- The Weakerthans will be performing.

Zomg! Needless to say I will be caring out time from my busy student/working/headasplode schedule to be attending this Ish. Can't wait!

Against the walls against your rules against your skin

Just in case you guys forgot, Anime is fracking weird.

But then again, so are the Chinese who re-created the whole Steven Slater incident and titled the segment "‘Busy blasting the evil steward hack gun passengers trip"

Uh... what?

I think it's time to take a hit out of the 'ol oil can of wine, 'cause it just feels like that kind of bizarro day.

No sex no drugs no luck no love

Don't you wanna feel my bones on your bones

I recently heard about some casting calls for an upcoming film called Father's Day from Winnipeg based Astron-6 and got interested; unfortunately they're only casting for male extras so yr girl is SoL for the time being.

It didn't stop me from taking a look around their site and being thoroughly impressed, because I sure love me some B-movies.

What I didn't realize is that they were totally filming " Laser Ghosts 2: Return to Laser Cove" at my old pad, Roslyn Square. You can see shots of the building at :23 and onward, and the part where he's walking across that bridge? Yeah, I watched them shoot that from my living room window (that bridge was how you got to my suite) which gives me, I dunno, an insider's view? Super cool stuff, yo's.
I've been trollin' their site for a while now and am super stoked about the upcoming release of Father's Day and basically being overwhelmed by the greatness of these local low-budget filmmakers .

How can you not love faces like these?!
Go give 'em some love on their site and check out the vids for such fine productions such as

In the year 2525

On a chilly, rainy, dreary Sunday evening.

I find myself sitting on the couch eating home-made chili.

Watching "Gentlemen, Broncos" with Ty and Gord.

Under a blanket.

Perfectly content.

Happy Lazy Sunday.

Uninvited, we'll stay if we want

Saw Inception last night and this is what I wore; the theater was still packed even though the movie's been out for a month.

There were times I didn't want to move eat popcorn or even breathe, it was that intense.

And so uncomfortable.

I'm glad that Leonardo DiCaprio is back, I've liked him forever.

Tom Hardy was more kickass than in Bronson.

I like Ellen Paige even though I wasn't the biggest Juno fan (it's all about Hard Candy).

And I've always loved Joseph Gordon-Levitt; ever since 3rd Rock From the Sun right through Brick, 500 Days of Summer, and that movie we won't mention he was in.

Besides, how can you not love a guy whose Wikipedia picture looks like this?

I sure can't.

Because they like the kissing as much as we do

Why did nobody tell me that Eugene Hutz was the frontman for Gogol Bordello?!

I barely recognized him with that fierce porno 'stache.

So now not only does he star in one of my favourite movie scenes ever, but he does vocals in a kickass gypsy-punk band featuring my favorite instrument EVAR: the accordion.

Seriously, accordion = heartz.

If only this were real, I would totally can haz Accordion Hero.

Happiness it hurt like a bullet in the mind

I knew today was going to be, is, will be a good day this morning.

I woke up (not hungover!) at 6am and lay in bed listening to the storm outisde my window.

My room smelled like rain, which is my favorite smell besides laundry, pumpkins and my Grandma.

Walking to work not one driver drove through the giant puddle on the road by the 'Ledge and splashed me.

One guy honked and gave me a thumbs-up and we smiled at each other.

Ty and I have a date planned for tomorrow which makes me happy and Adult Swim is making Children's Hospital into a real series.

Bodies is coming to Winnipeg (finally), a giant bird took over a Twitter following list, and I can finally rest easy because Jasonbateman.com isn't a porn site anymore.

It's a good Friday the 13th, if you ask me.

Enjoy it, loves.
