I'm always sleeping with your ghost

Apparently there's an American remake being done of the creepy 2008 Swedish film Let the Right One In called "Let Me In".Why, Hollywood?
Can't you wait more than two years to rip off someone else's idea?
Are people really too lazy to bother reading subtitles?
Or do they figure they can capitalize on Twilight-mania by tossing out another vampire movie in English?
I don't get it.
Whatever, once I see Inception I won't be going to the movies until Machete comes out anyway.

I've been watching Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" series recently.Even though it's a bit dated it still fascinating stuff; sometimes I forget how tiny and insignificant our planet really is in the big scheme of the universe. It's a bit scary and humbling at the same time.
I'm no good at science, I don't have a mind for calculations and math so the intricate stuff is lost on me but he explains everything so simply and elegantly that it makes perfect sense.
What I enjoy most about watching it isn't just the knowledge I get from it, but how fun it is to watch Carl Sagan narrate and present it all; I've never seen anyone get excited about something the way that he did about space exploration.
Every picture and video he looks so full of life and vibrant. His optimisim and total awe at what he was discussing is what makes the program worth watching; he really believed in the good of humankind and in what we can accomplish as a species.
I want to love the things in my life the way Carl Sagan loved the universe.

Did you know that even though I am a huge Apple fangirl, all I have in the way of products is an iPod?
Well, no more! Meet my new iPad.
I am calling her "Gretchel" after a ridiculous story that happened last night that I will tell you all about another time; I am way too busy spending time with my newest member of the family. She's so smooth and pretty.
My hat honestly goes off to Steve Jobs on this one, this is a fabulous little device and I can't wait to get to know her better.

Yesterday I told my boss I will be a full-time student in the fall.It felt good.
Honest.
Exciting.
Scary.
It was a relief and to celebrate after dinner with my favorite Grandma I spent the evening chilling hard with Gordon and being ridiculous.
I drank three rye & cokes too fast at Billabong and got a sweet buzz.
We got a super-delish pizza from Lil' Pizza Heaven that I almost ate on the way home.
Gord burnt his lips by too much cock sauce on the pizza.
We watched the final episode of Breaking Bad season 3 and I totally saw it coming but was still blown away.
We tried to watch Run Ronnie Run which isn't the same at all as Run Lola Run but has Bob Odenkirk in it who I love so that was fine. However the movie was awful.
We stayed up too late and after rolling out of bed this morning I ate a greasy sandwich for breakfast and later today I am going to buy some retro hipster garbage and have gyoza for dinner.
Tomorrow I am going swimming at a dam in Pinawa which is apparently gorgeous. I'm stoked.
Let's do this, weekend.

Today I balanced an entire fiscal year spreadsheet to two different databases and paid my largest and most time-consuming invoice; I am mentally checking out for the day.
Until ten minutes or so ago I found myself feeling pretty down I guess it's because I have been trying to get Ty to the Apple store so I can finally make my big Apple Decision: Macbook, or iPad? Sure I could go by myself but Ty's a big Apple fanboy and I know he'd like to be there; our schedules just keep getting in the way and I kind of want to get it done, already. Oh well, soon!
To cheer myself up I am am planning an impromptu adventure somewhere; I have the feeling that something new (a book? A dress?!) and a crêpe are in my future. Maybe a walk in the rain under my bubble umbrella? Who knows!
My iPod is fully charged and I've been jamming out to the Beck album Modern Guilt all day; have you heard it? Gamma Ray is particularly catchy, but essentially the whole thing is golden. Anything produced by Danger Mouse is generally heating up my playlist, it seems. It'll be the perfect accompanyment to my solo adventure tonight.
When there is nothing left to burn, you must set yourself on fire

Yesterday was better than today, but not by much.Ty is teaching me how to use Photoshop and as a result I've been hipster-ifying everything (as evidenced in the picture on the right).
Actually it was so I could work on some pictures from a photoshoot I did for Alex-Lee and Komus on Friday; they're releasing a couple of their tracks and need promo shots done.
The faves can be found here, if you're interested.
Today is a Stars kind of day; sort of whimsical and a little bit sad and very pretty overall.
I'd rather not go back to the office; being at Ty's on my lunch the sun shines in through the windows and the view is spectacular and everything looks so much easier to manage from up here.

Today is kicking to much ass, guys! I hope you're having a beautiful day as well. It's just one of those days where everything goes swimmingly.
Work is still work, but it's great for Work Standards.
It's gorgeous if not disgustingly hot and sunny outside.
I scored a sweet scarf and cheap shades from my favorite vintage shop, Vintage Glory.
The cute boy at Ragpickers offered to keep the store open past 6pm so I could go and shop at my convenience once I was done at the gym (how sweet is that?!) I'm not taking him up on it but the gesture was so cute!
We got free (low-fat!) ice cream at the office.
I have a killer workout ahead of me which (lame) is one of the highlights of my week.
Ty is making me slow-cooker beef sandwiches on home-made bread for dinner.
I have been listening to The Bird and The Bee all day. Especially this song.
And I have this sweet pith-esque helmet and a stupid expression:
Enjoy your day dears! xo
I make me so damn easy to love

Since I moved out of The Village into West Broadway a few months ago I've honestly been a bit more concerned than I usually would be about walking home. I live on a very nice, quiet street, but there's something to be said for the comfort that living in one of the busiest neighborhoods offers; there were always oodles of people around at any time of night, which made me feel safe. I love my quiet street and cute apartment, but I honestly get a bit nervous walking home sometimes when it's just me and the old elm trees. That being said, it was a pleasant surprise when I received a cute personal alarm from ila security in the mail yesterday.
It's called the ila Dusk, and it basically looks like something you'd use on your car (but with a super cute pattern); it's a little rectangle of plastic with a chain on the end that, when pulled out, emits a super high-pitched noise that sounds like a woman screaming. The sound is 130dB which (according to Wikipedia) is enough to cause hearing damage and it louder than an ambulance siren. It shocked the hell out of me when I pulled out the chain, and I was expecting it! Basically it's a shock mechanism in case you're attacked, which in gives you time to run or call for help while your attacker is stunned.I've been messing around with it for a while now and had it in my purse all day while I was at work and then running errands afterward to try and see how easily the chain would come out -let's get serious, I wouldn't carry around something that might start shrieking when I drop my bag on the ground- and you definitely need to give the chain a strong yank in order to pull it out, which reassured me that it won't interrupt a dinner conversation or scare someone on the bus at random.
It's funny that I received this when I did because I was chatting with a female co-worker about my age about staying safe in the downtown area and she was saying that she was trying to get her hands on some mace or something. Honestly I feel a lot more confident (and safe) carrying something that can't be used against me, such as mace or a knife or anything like that. Plus it's pretty cheap, I looked into it and they're about £19.50 which is $30, so what is there to say no to?
Obviously I hope that nothing ever happens to me (or you!) but it's always good to have a little extra help in case a bad situation arises, don't you think?

One of the things that annoys me most in life is when adults (people older than I am) act more immaturely than I do. Like, instead of admitting that I made a valid and well-spoken point (which I did) they choose to explode on me and say I am being disrespectful (I wasn't), and then when I don't respond proceed to send me an email claiming "you're so selfish, you never call me!".It's frustrating because I expect better from people, but I guess I shouldn't. Not everyone can learn to argue and actually get somewhere with it.
Luckily it wasn't anything that a (cheap!) trim of the 'ol hairdo and a phone call to Grandma S. couldn't fix. Honestly that woman lights up my life.
It's muggy as hell outside and I could be out playing in it; but I think a date with the internet and my air conditioner is a lot more appealing tonight; it's been a while since I had some time to myself.
Yay Tuesdays.

Recovering from sunburn on my back, bum, thighs and the backs of my knees from the past weekend; I've been feeling pretty yucky physically and I blame over-exposure to sunlight while being dehydrated aka only drinking beer. As I said to my aunt via email today "aah, to be young and stupid. Lessons learned." Today was spent sleeping away nausea and general dizziness and discomfort.Needless to say, camping happened over the weekend. It was amazing; we went swimming in the lake in the middle of the night and for some reason it was one of the best experiences ever; we drank way too much shitty beer and ate steak and cheap potato salad and it was wonderful.
In the wee hours of the morning I woke up to rain drops on my forehead. Ty hadn't put the cover over the tent to try and keep the air circulating better, and it hadn't been cloudy when we went to sleep. Well in the two seconds it took for Ty to open his eyes it was pouring rain and he had to run outside in the downpour and toss the cover over the tent. We lay together and fell back asleep to the sounds of the thunder and lightning. I now have a new appreciation for thunderstorms now that I've experienced one in a tent.
The next morning we woke up to find that slugs had taken over our campsite and were feasting on a bag of Doritos someone left out the night before.
Rough Morning Slug Alyson.
Jason managed to bring a can of beans but no can opener, so we had a good time watching him bang keys into the top of the can with various objects in order to get at the tasty goodness inside. And yes, he did finally open it.
Ty and I have been discussing getting couple-type photos that have a Jack and Meg White feel to them via FaceBook chat; I can definitely get behind that.
