The world-famous Winnipeg Fringe Festival starts today

and though I can't go until Friday
since I'm seeing my Grandma (who doesn't like plays) tonight, and seeing Library Voices tomorrow at the West End Cultural Centre (for free! Thanks @UMFM!)
I scored a set of free tickets from @KingsTransfer and am looking forward to heading out with Ty, @Cenquist and possibly some others to partake in the theater.
For you out-of-towners, the @WinnipegFringe is a huge deal here in #Winnipeg and we get some of the very best, most talented people to come and visit us for a while and perform their musicals, shows and plays.
Ty and I went last year and were harassed by the surliest clown ever and saw a bunch of plays that don't seem to be coming back this year (shame, 'Cactus the Seduction was amazing) and since unfortunately I'm not (yet) SuperWoman which means I can't attend every play I want to see, here are my top four picks:
Bedlam
The Brain from Planet X
Cannibal! The Musical
Hedwig and The Angry Inch
Clearly these are subject to change depending on what times are available, and who happens to be standing around outside promoting their play and are nice to me
(hint: buying me a beer helps in the decision-making ;))
I was drunk
okay, I wasn't
at least not since Friday
but that's the name of this track
and the ridiculous horribly-cut hilarious vid samples scenes from
Black Cat White Cat
which we haven't watched yet
even though we've watched the video a million times
and it's responsible for our whole social circle doing this:

Hip Hop Sunday #7 Kanye West - Welcome to Heartbreak ft Kid Kudi
This is hands-down one of my favourite Kanye vids
love the track, but especially the compression hack fade effect
(and that awful sweater!)
now get the f outside! In #Winnipeg it's going to be over 35 degrees today and Ty and I are heading to Assiniboine Park to take some shots with Hansel and play in the sun
happy Hip Hop Sunday!
Knew it'd be a good day today
Ty made me french toast for breakfast
finally got my G+ account (add me! Let's be G+ friends!)
@joeyheflich said this about me (what a sweetheart!):

oh, and I was notified of this awesomeness:

so obviously I had to go and see for myself:

that little red thingy near my name says "breaking", I'm a breaking trend!
Clearly it's a solid Friday.
Enjoy your weekend, my dears! xo
Sometimes I get blue
so I start to feel bad for myself, or confused
like maybe I can't handle what's thrown at me
then I see stuff like this:
and I tell myself to stop being such a damn baby
Meet the newest member of our family

yesterday we brought home a Canon T1i with a new stock lens and a 75-300mm lens
I wanted to name it "Hansel"
like Ansel, but so hot right now
by Ty nixed it - he doesn't name things
we got
(RIP Bill)
but he lasted 4+ yrs which is pretty good considering I lugged him to almost every party, Connect, Montreal, MEME, and all over the city with me whenever I went out
looking forward to new adventures with Hansel, too
just maybe I won't take him to Florida
Last Friday was Canada's Birthday

my lovely country turned 142 years old.
William and Kate celebrated it by coming and hanging out in Ottawa
some of the MEMETIC crew spent it on the UnBurger patio
randoms spent it dancing in the streets
some friends spent it in beer gardens
I spent it at Grand Beach
eating smokies
drinking beer and wine from a box
jumping in waves
getting sunburnt
with some of the people I love the most
and today is July 4th
when the US turns 235
and Fox News' twitter got hacked
and Obama was reported dead
(which he isn't)
which makes me wonder
who celebrates the birthday of their country by making up lies about their president?
though Fox getting hacked is
of course
hilar
Recently someone told me
"I didn't even realize you and Ty were dating"
earlier, during the weekend, someone commented to me that we don't
'act like a couple' in public
and honestly it was starting to bother me
maybe there was something wrong with us?
shouldn't I want to always be sitting with him?
holding his hand? kissing his cheek?
when we go out together we'll spend most of the time socializing with other people, and while it's totally normal to me I'd never considered that others might find it odd
apparently it's unusual
I found this today, though, that made me feel better
it's from an article on autostraddle featuring wisdom from Emily Post, and this is how it goes:
Great love is seldom flaunted in public, though it very often shows itself in pride—that is a little obvious, perhaps. This underlying tenderness and pride which is at the base of the attitude of each, only glints beneath the surface of perfect comradeship. Their frank approval of whatever the other may do or say is very charming; and even more so is their obvious friendliness toward all people, of wanting the whole world beautiful for all because it is so beautiful to them.

I couldn't agree more.
I feel better now :)
no this isn't our cat

it belongs to some friends of ours
his name's lil' Frank Lapedus
('Peedy' for short)
he walks on backs and nuzzles faces
and purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs
and now, because I'm a sucker
I want a kitten, too
I'm-a name him Bill Paxton
or
Big P
P Dawg
P-Diddy
or Pax
for short
get on it Ty
